Performance
Jenny Rust (MMus, PG Dip, ISM) discovered her passion for singing as a founding member of the Bath Abbey Girls’ Choir and read music at the University of Hull under the tutelage of Sarah Rhodes. She went on to postgraduate study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where she was highly commended in the Frank Spedding Lieder Competition and graduated with an MMus (distinction) at the Royal Northern College of Music under the guidance of the late Barbara Robotham. At the RNCM she was a finalist in the prestigious Frederick Cox Award and a recipient of the Dame Eva Turner Scholarship.
Jennifer’s opera roles include; Fiordiligi Così fan tutte, Adina L’Elisir d’amore, Pamina The Magic Flute, Sister Genovieffa Suor Angelica and Venus Dido and Aeneas. She has also appeared in opera scenes as Marianne Der Rosenkavalier, Arminda La finta giardiniera and Lillian Happy End. As a soloist, Jennifer has sung with Opera North for Britten’s On This Island, performed Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music at The Bridgewater Hall with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra, and performed Brahms Requiem with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir. Her solo performance in An Enchanted Evening of Song with Sir Willard White was also broadcast on Classic FM. Jennifer performs regularly on the oratorio platform with repertoire including; Handel Messiah; Haydn Nelson Mass; Mozart Requiem, Beethoven Symphony No 9, Brahms Requiem and Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle.
